An Introduction to the Interpretation of Scripture,” otherwise known as “Hermeneutics,” is a study on the study of the Bible.  I wrote this while I was the Pastor of Third Street Baptist Church, Cordele, GA (this is the church that laid hands on us and sent us out into our current ministry).  It was designed to help my Sunday School teachers, as they prepared their lessons.  The book is small, about 68 pages, but it has some wonder material on the King James Bible.  I deal with such things as the principles of first mention, last mention and subsequent mention.  I also deal with “latitude.”  Latitude is the acceptable “extent of deviation from a standard.”  You learn what latitude God allows by comparing Old Testament passages with their quoted New Testament equivalents, such as comparing 1Peter 2:6 (“Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded) with Isaiah 28:16 (“Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste”).  I believe this small book will help the young Bible student to reap more from his Bible studies, as well as remind those more familiar with Scripture of things they may have forgotten.
