I have the privilege of starting out the New Year with Pastor David Cooper and the dear folk of Bible Baptist Church, Marietta, GA. Vickie and I will be with him for both services on that Sunday.

As we who are trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ look out across the year and consider the possibilities it holds, we pray that this year will contain the appointed time for the adoption of children (Ephesians 1:5), called the redemption of our bodies (Romans 8:23).

We know that we will be changed in the twinkling of an eye (1 Corinthians 15:52). We will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air; and, so shall we ever be: with the Lord (1 Thessalonians 4:17). When we see him as he is, we know that we shall be like him (1 John 3:2). For, this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality (1 Corinthians 15:53)..

So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:54-57).

Note: Regarding “the last trump” in the statement: In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed (1 Corinthians 15:52). This is the last trump of the Church Age. When he that now letteth (the Holy Ghost) is taken out of the way (2 Thessalonians 2:7), then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall destroy with the brightness of his coming (2 Thessalonians 2:8).

The seven trumpets in the hands of seven angels standing before God are involved with the seventh seal of the book that the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, had prevailed to open (Revelation 5:5). The Church is present before the Lord (as pictured in John’s presence) when that book is opened (Revelation 5:4-8).
