Pastor Ronnie Waters has invited me to preach a Revival Meeting at Harmony Baptist Church in Blakely, GA. Services begin on Sunday morning, with Sunday School at 10 am.
Sunday evening service is at 6pm. Services Monday night through Wednesday night begin at 7 pm.
Pray for the meeting. My desire is to see the Saints encouraged and Souls saved. Our Lord gave instructions to Peter to feed the lambs and to feed the sheep (John 21:15-17).
The “lambs” refer to children and to children in the Lord. These are converts who need the sincere milk of the Word of God to grow (1 Peter 2:2). They have received the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior; and, their sins are forgiven them for his name’s sake (1 John 2:12). They know the Heavenly Father (1 John 2:13).
The sheep, by contrast, point us to the young men and fathers. The young men are to be exhorted to be sober minded, showing themselves to be a pattern of good works (Titus 2:6-7).
Sincerity, gravity and sound speech that cannot be condemned are goals for young men (Titus 2":8). Young men, in the Lord, have overcome the wicked one (1 John 2:13). They have a good measure of strength; and, the word of God abides in them (1 John 2:14).
The fathers have known him that is from the beginning: the Lord Jesus Christ (1 John 2:13), over a period of time. They have experience and maturity. The Holy Spirit repeats this truth regarding fathers: “Ye have known him that is from the beginning” (1 John 2:14).
They have known the Word from the beginning of his earthly ministry (1 John 1:1-3. This is the same Word that is in the beginning: the Word that was with God and the Word that was God (John 1:1). He still is God, with God. As the Father has declared of the Son: “Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of thy kingdom” (Hebrews 1:8).
No matter what group describes us (lambs or sheep), we all need to be fed from God’s Word.
